No. This turbo is specifically designed for Tier 3 "Electronic Fuelling" engines. The actuator calibration and internal flow characteristics are tuned for engines managed by an ECU. Installing this on a Tier 2 mechanical engine may result in incorrect boost levels and poor performance due to different fuel-air mapping.
Q2: Why are there two different series numbers (785828 and 768525)?
These are different Garrett production series that has used for the same engine application. They are functionally and physically interchangeable. If your current turbo is stamped with either 785828 or 768525, this unit will fit and perform exactly as the original.
Q3: Does this turbocharger require an ECU reset after installation?
Generally, a physical turbo replacement does not require an ECU flash, but we recommend clearing any "low boost" or "wastegate error" codes stored in the memory.
